Calpe
Calpe is an immensely popular destination for foreigners and other Spanish nationals due mainly to its fine sandy beaches, rich history and thriving fishing port. The town is dominated by the imposing ‘Peñón de Ifach' or ‘Northern Rock', as it was named by the Phoenicians to distinguish it from the ‘Southern Rock' of Gibraltar.
The rock is often used as an icon for the Costa Blanca region and has been transformed into a nature park to protect its unique vegetation and over 300 species of animals, including colonies of sea birds.
